Binance and OKX Bosses Trade Jabs Over User Losses
Binance co-founder Yi He hit back at OKX CEO Star Xu with a stuck-token complaint, hours after he criticized Binance’s UID transfer setup.
Brief
Binance co-founder Yi He answered OKX CEO Star Xu, who had faulted Binance's account design, by circulating a grievance from a trader whose tokens were trapped on OKX. The row started after a user on X attributed missing money to duplicate UIDs. On November 7, Yi He rejected that, saying each Binance user has a unique UID and the funds had gone to Binance Thailand, a separate system.
Xu argued that IDs under one brand must be unique across all sites, or UID-only transfers between sites should be barred, since a duplicate could misdirect funds. Earlier, on November 4, he had accused Changpeng Zhao of deflecting blame after a recent hack. Binance, still recovering from a $6.3 billion hack, said on November 7 that CFO Kaiser Ng is leaving.
Why it matters: The dispute highlights how account identifier design and cross-site transfers can block users from reclaiming or liquidating holdings, a concern for large exchanges.
