Binance Publishes Zero-Knowledge Reserve Proof for BTC, ETH and 8 Other Tokens After Hack
A new snapshot covering more tokens is set for Nov. 4, while the exchange says the last 5% of affected funds sits in less liquid assets.

Dextape brief
Binance said on November 2 it had completed a zero-knowledge proof covering its October 31 reserve snapshot. Users holding any of ten listed tokens, including BTC and ETH, can now confirm their balances are backed at least one-to-one. The system pairs a Merkle tree, showing an account was counted, with a zk-SNARK proving reserves cover what users are owed. Users log in, download the open-source verifier and run it locally; the company says its code is public and was independently audited. Binance plans another snapshot on November 4 covering more tokens, and co-CEO Yi He said producing that proof would take roughly 40 to 50 hours. The proof follows an October 29 breach in which hackers took over $6.3 billion from hot wallets.
Why it matters: The proof lets individual users check their own balances against reserves, which bears directly on trust after a multibillion-dollar hack.
