Crypto Has a New Enemy After Binance Hack, Michael Saylor Warns
Michael Saylor warns AI hackers will target weak exchange software after the $6.3B Binance hack. See who is exposed.
Dextape brief
A recent theft drained roughly $6.3 billion from Binance, and Michael Saylor now cautions that AI-equipped attackers could hunt weak exchange software. Speaking in São Paulo, he pointed to Binance and a separate breach at Brazilian exchange Mercado Bitcoin, where Hypernative flagged over $40 million in suspicious transfers. Saylor argued that advanced AI models make intruders more capable and urged exchanges to test their systems with those models every day. Binance said a fake recruiter led an engineer to download a counterfeit assignment, after which attackers used an internal AI tool to reach other staff accounts. The FBI blamed North Korea. Binance plans to expand AI-powered threat detection and says it has refilled most stolen funds from reserves.
Why it matters: It shows that exchange security depends on software and staff practices, so every platform holding customer coins faces the same exposure.
