Dextape brief
BeInCrypto covered MERGE Madrid, held October 27 to 29 in Madrid. According to the report, banks are moving beyond crypto trading to build stablecoin and tokenized asset infrastructure. Chainalysis's Jordan Wain said crypto economic activity reached about $9.4 trillion from June 2025 to June 2026, down 1.6% year on year, while cross-border stablecoin transfers rose 80%. Visa's Alexandra Soroko pointed to stablecoin card settlement and named business payments and corporate treasury as next growth areas. Western Union and Anchorage Digital launched USDPT, a dollar-backed token on Solana, in May. The Qivalis consortium has 37 institutions across 15 countries and plans to run a euro stablecoin under MiCA, though euro stablecoins total under $1 billion in market cap.
Why it matters: It shows banks shifting from crypto trading toward stablecoin payment and settlement infrastructure, a trend that touches how money moves for crypto firms and their clients.
