Ethereum Foundation sued for firing employee who opposed ‘suicide pledge’
A former Ethereum Foundation employee has filed a lawsuit against it, alleging she was terminated after opposing a "suicide pledge.

Dextape brief
Former Ethereum Foundation Protocol Support lead Kayleen Fulton has sued Stiftung Ethereum and Vitalik Buterin, among others. She alleges her firing followed a cancer disclosure and her push against a contested staff mandate clause. The February draft included a license provision requiring violators to end their lives by sword, according to the complaint. Fulton says 79 staff voted to strike it, yet the published version kept it and the mandate was recorded on-chain intact. The filing also says Bastian Aue required every employee to sign or be treated as having resigned. Fulton and Trent Van Epps then sent the board a letter, backed by 53 members, declining to affirm the mandate under coercion while stating they had not quit. Fulton was later terminated.
Why it matters: The case puts internal dissent and alleged retaliation at a major Ethereum body under legal scrutiny, raising governance questions for the ecosystem.
