WiremarketsDextape brief
This Is What Binance Has Done Following $6.3B Hack
The exchange revoked affected address authorizations and is working with law enforcement and blockchain firms to trace and recover assets.

Dextape brief
Binance co-CEO Richard Teng told customers the exchange will cover all losses from a security incident estimated to have affected $6.3 billion. Teng said early findings pointed to an attacker who reached a service container through a DevOps engineer's compromised laptop and submitted unauthorized withdrawals, but he stressed the breach was more complex and that no individual has been blamed. The exchange has paused withdrawals, overhauled the withdrawal service, revoked authorizations for affected addresses, and invited law enforcement and on-chain analysis firms to help trace funds. Teng also said no private key leak was found and roughly $3 billion of the stolen amount has been frozen on-chain. Later investigations uncovered additional breach points, though Binance did not specify them.
Why it matters: The incident shows how a single compromised device can be tied to unauthorized withdrawals from an exchange that holds customer funds, making security practices central to user trust.
